Monday Reset: Realigning Your Mind and Intentions for the Week Ahead

There was a time when Mondays felt like a race.
I would wake up already thinking about everything that needed my attention. The business. Family responsibilities. Appointments. Emails. Deadlines. The never-ending to-do list waiting for me before my feet even touched the floor.
By the time I sat down with my first cup of coffee, my mind was already exhausted.
Maybe you know that feeling.
For years, I believed the best way to start the week was to jump straight into productivity. More planning. More doing. More checking things off the list.
What I've learned, however, is that how I begin my Monday often determines how I experience the rest of my week.
Now, before I focus on what I need to do, I spend a few moments focusing on who I want to be.
That simple shift has changed everything.
Before the Schedule, Set the Intention
Most of us start Monday by looking at our calendars.
I start by checking in with myself.
Before I open emails, social media, or my planner, I ask a few simple questions:
How do I want to feel this week?
What deserves my energy?
What can I release?
Some weeks my intention is focus.
Some weeks it's patience.
Some weeks it's gratitude.
And sometimes, if I'm being completely honest, my intention is simply to make it through the week with grace.
There is power in choosing your mindset before the world chooses it for you.
Protecting My Peace
As a wife, mother, Mimi, business owner, and someone who has navigated health challenges over the years, I know firsthand how easy it is to give pieces of yourself away all day long.
Someone always needs something.
There is always another task waiting.
Another responsibility.
Another demand on your time.
What I've learned is that protecting my peace isn't selfish.
It's necessary.
If I begin the week overwhelmed, rushed, and depleted, I have very little left to give to the people and priorities that matter most.
Monday has become less about productivity and more about preparation.
Preparing my mind.
Preparing my heart.
Preparing my energy.
My Monday Morning Reset
My reset isn't complicated.
In fact, I've found the simplest rituals are often the most meaningful.
I start with gratitude.
Not because every day is perfect, but because gratitude helps me focus on what is present instead of what is missing.
I take a few quiet moments before the day begins.
I review my priorities instead of my entire to-do list.
I choose three things that truly matter for the week.
Not thirty.
Three.
Then I take a deep breath and remind myself that everything does not have to happen today.
There is something incredibly freeing about giving yourself permission to take one step at a time.
Creating Space for Yourself
One of the biggest lessons I've learned is that self-care isn't something you squeeze into the week after everything else is done.
Because let's be honest—it rarely gets done.
Self-care has to become part of the plan.
For me, that may be a spin class, a walk outside, a few quiet minutes meditating, or simply taking the time to nourish my skin and slow down for a moment.
Those small rituals remind me that my well-being matters too.
Not after everyone else.
Alongside everyone else.
A Gentle Reminder
If you're starting this week feeling overwhelmed, behind, or carrying the weight of things that didn't get finished last week, I want to remind you of something.
You don't need to begin perfectly.
You simply need to begin.
Take a breath.
Set an intention.
Choose what matters most.
And give yourself permission to move forward with grace.
A new week isn't an opportunity to become someone different.
It's an opportunity to realign with who you already are.
As I begin this week, I'm reminding myself of the same words that guide everything we do at My Body Therapy:
My body is a temple. I will honor it with self-care.
And sometimes honoring ourselves begins with something as simple as a Monday reset.
With gratitude,
