When most people hear the words self-care, they think of skincare routines, candles, quiet baths, exercise, meditation, or moments spent alone. And while all of those things absolutely have their place, I've been reminded recently that some of the most meaningful self-care doesn't happen in solitude. Sometimes it happens sitting next to someone you love. After a particularly difficult week filled with unexpected setbacks, and more mental exhaustion than I care to admit, I fou

There was a time when Mondays felt like a race. I would wake up already thinking about everything that needed my attention. The business. Family responsibilities. Appointments. Emails. Deadlines. The never-ending to-do list waiting for me before my feet even touched the floor. By the time I sat down with my first cup of coffee, my mind was already exhausted. Maybe you know that feeling. For years, I believed the best way to start the week was to jump straight into productivit

If I'm being honest, last week was hard. Not the kind of hard that everyone can see from the outside. The kind of hard that happens quietly. The kind that makes you smile when people ask how you're doing, while internally you're carrying far more than you want anyone to know. I've always tried to be a positive person. I genuinely believe in gratitude, faith, self-care, and finding joy in life's simple moments. But there are weeks when staying in that mindset feels less like a

There are some struggles we talk about openly, and then there are the ones we carry quietly. Depression and anxiety often come with an uninvited companion: guilt. Not guilty because we've done something wrong. Guilt because we're tired. Guilt because we need rest. Guilt because we're not showing up the way we think we should. Guilt because the laundry isn't done, the emails aren't answered, the business isn't growing fast enough, the house isn't spotless, or we don't have the

There’s something about summer that invites us to begin again. The warmth. The sunlight. The longer days. The feeling that life is opening back up after moving through colder, heavier seasons. And while summer is often associated with vacations, events, and busy schedules, I’ve learned to see it differently over the years. For me, summer has become a season of personal renewal. A season to slow down enough to check in with myself again. To nourish my body more intentionally.

There’s something powerful about intentionally slowing down. Not rushing. Not multitasking. Not pouring into everyone else first. Just creating space to breathe, reset, and reconnect with yourself. At My Body Therapy, we believe self-care should feel restorative — not rushed. And one of the simplest ways to bring more peace and softness into your routine is by creating an intentional at-home spa night. The best part? You don’t need a luxury resort to experience luxury. Summer has always meant family to me. When my children were younger, our summers were filled with long afternoons outside, pool days, my husband grilling his famous ribs, competitive pool volleyball games, cornhole and spades tournaments. Last, but not least, water gun wars that somehow always became more intense than anyone planned. And now, watching my grandkids create those same memories brings everything full circle. There’s something special about summertime. The laughte

For a long time, I believed being available for everyone was part of being a good person. A good wife. A good mother. A good “Mimi.” A good daughter. A good friend. A dependable business owner. I said yes when I was exhausted. I overextended myself constantly. I answered calls when I needed rest. I carried things emotionally that were never mine to carry. And somewhere along the way, I confused self-sacrifice with love. But living with autoimmune challenges forced me to confr

There was a season in my life when I barely recognized myself. From the outside, I was still showing up. Still handling responsibilities. Still pouring into everyone around me. But internally, my body was exhausted. Living with autoimmune challenges changed the way I experienced everyday life. There were moments when I felt physically drained, emotionally overwhelmed, and disconnected from myself in ways that were difficult to explain. My body was asking me to slow down long

There was a time when I believed rest had to be earned. I thought slowing down meant I wasn’t doing enough. I thought taking care of myself came after everyone else. And like so many people, I kept pushing through exhaustion while ignoring what my body, mind, and spirit were asking for. But eventually, I realized something important: Self-care is not a reward. It is maintenance. It is healing. It is restoration. That realization became the foundation of My Body Therapy. Creat
